I still shoot 6x7 and keep a 150mm (about 73mm equivalent) lens on almost exculsively as my general all purpose lens.

Agree with most that the 85mm 1.2 is truly remarkable and so is the 50mm 1.4.

For a sharp affordable walkabout lens, try the EF-S 17-55mm 2.8 (DLSR x0D - xx0D). 'The images/prints produced by the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS and the primes "pop out" with sharpness and contrast compared at f/2.8 to those produced with the other zoom lenses.'

Cheers.

love using prime lenses, just get so much more out of them because of there resolving power over Zoom lenses.

If you want the best result quality wise from your prime lenses, shoot at the optimum aperture which is usually about 2 stops down from fully open.
