There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Bjorn--there is probably not a site now that this has not made it to! I guess the revamped 5D will show up in early spring if not before, as the 30D came out after the 5D, and now we have the upcoming 40D.

The main focus on this announcement is obviously about the 1DS Mark III because of the prospect of having 21MP resolution capabilities available in a fully automatic 35mm DSLR, which is a level of resolution that was previously only available at the MF level using a digital back.

I think it is worth pointing out though that the the 40D does not get the attention of many people who are already shooting with a full frame camera level like the 5D or the 1DS Mark II since the 40D is a step below, but I think it does have a lot of value to those people even as a backup camera or something light weight to take on short trips where you may not want to bring along such a heavy body like the 1DS MKII.

I also think, unless you need the professional build of the 1D MKIII, or are a sports shooter who requires such a high frame rate, that the 40D is a much more economical solution which offers you something over the 10MP threshold for just over one thousand USD.
