There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

There is a new site that was just launched serving as an extensive unbiased online community for people to share information about traveling to Thailand.

I am mentioning it because if people are planning a trip to Thailand for photography purposes and want travel advice, then the site can be quite useful. I know the people who set it up as I provided them a bit of my photography to use on the site for the destinations section.

The site has just gone live and they told me they are still entering their hotel data base information which will eventually have contact details and web site info for hundreds of hotels in Thailand.

They also have a section for traveler trip-tips and a large forum where people can discuss everything including giving their personal experiences dealing with the online hotel booking agencies in Thailand. That could be great info.

I believe it is a community that will grow fast since so many people share an interest in travel to Thailand. Check it out:

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look.
Were you aware that this was happening not long ago?

I hope that the very few samplings the site offers isn't an
indication of the ability of these 'world's best photographers'.

Yes, I was aware, but regretably I learned about the project after the seleciton of photographers had been made so I did not get the opportunity to submit a portfolio. The project was lead by a French publisher in Singapore I believe. Anyway, there is always next time.

I just wanted to add that I was told that they recently completed their data base entry system on hotels and now they have database information on-line for over 1,000 hotels in Thailand, all accessible by a very user friendly search function.

They also asked me if I might ask some of my forum members who have recently traveled to Thailand to share a trip tip or two and to write a review on any hotels they have stayed in. If you can, it would help with the development of their online community and many thanks.

Also, although I have not been in favor of any form of banner advertising on this Forum, I am considering adding a banner to their site as I really appreciate the sort of information resource on Thai hotels they have created for anyone to have access to for free. I can imagine how long it took to track down the web sites for over 1,000 hotels in Thailand, and I think it is somehting worth helping them promote Roll Eyes
