I have been visiting a few of the many Khmer temples in Thailand just recently and am heading up to Phimai (Khorat) tomorrow night to "have a go" at that one. Can anyone offer any advice, experiences or half decent hotels concerning phimai?

Cheers

Paul

Pics so far are here if anyone wants to look

My personal take was:

Mueang Tam - what a lovely experience and temple
Phnom Rung - impressive but trying to get shots without people in, even at 6 am, was a pain
Preah Vihear - cannot get any shots that show the temple and the the location together, hassled by beggars and sellers constantly - disappointing.

Try the Phi Mai Inn. 2-3 years ago was about the best place available there. Its about 1.5KM back out of town along a main road which runs perpendicular to the main road going in and out of Phi Mai. Most likely you will come in on the main road. The road itself that the hotel is on is called the By-Pass Road and the hotel is next to a PTT petrol staiton. Tel. 044-471-175, 044-285-210, 044-287-228-9

Your personal takes would be beter posted in the Great Locations & Photo Taking Experiences section.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Marc.

that was a very pleasant hotel and at 420 a night baht excellent value

for anyone else going up there, maybe better to wait for a bit of rain, its extremely dry at the moment. There also an excellent little restaurant on the river just up from the hotel called the Rim Mun
