for a museum show i am looking to mount a lot of pictures on Plexiglas. its a borderless cold mounting. or cold mounting no metal (way cooler as metal does not warp like plexi but more expensive). do you know any shop that does that? no one in Chiang Mai knows how to do that.
cheers and thanks

good framers in bkk are a hard thing to find unless you want to spent a great deal of money, as you don't i would recommend 2 shops by sirryat hospital. i used them for my show last year, the frames they make are good. i would say to you to get the frames and mounts made only. and put them togeather yourself, as i found the hard way when i went to pick my work up, the framers had used cow glue to bond my photos to the base board instead of using spray mount, so i had a lot of air trapped behind the print. reprints were made and then i took a few days out to do myself. this framers was recommended as one of the better places by a gallery owner,

what you need in order to do this yourself is a press, hot or cold press depending on the type of glue used. even i would not recommend using spray as you really should be using a press. most bounding solutions require a hot press. also most types of coating are done with a hot press. so if there were air bubbles it was because they did not use a press. you know i have not thought of doing it without a press. but that is another option as i can just buy the plexi. on the other hand doing 124, 11x14 images is to much for me.
could you send me the phone of the place that also does mounting on metal.
thanks

i did my end of year show at uni by doing it myself with spray mount that was the last time i did it untill last year. i was taught how to do it correctly by my course directtor. if you have the time and patience a good job can be achived, last year i spent a few weeks looking for good framers and found 2 half decent places, the other places which were really expensive, were found in the malls at pinklao and silom. to be honest i personly would not trust a framer here to ever mount my work again after what i experiance before.... i have no number for that frame shop i used but they dont have a press, in all the places i saw none used a press. but i only when to a dozen or so places, recommened by other photographers so there well could be places in bkk with a press.
