There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

I downloaded a 30 trial version of Adobe Lightroom 1.0 after my beta version expired at the end of Feb. I've been trying to pay for the program online at the Adobe website before the trail period runs out but because I'm based in Thailand, there is no Adobe country site that will alow me to downlaod the program. Has anyone been able to get around the download problem or been able to find it in Bangkok?

Gary--I bought an official copy here in BKK, but I used a USA address to do it. One can save an additional $30 if you type macworld 2007 into the promotional code window. Are you in BKK? If so, I would get together and let you use my address but not wallet  Grin to order one. Contact me offline if you want to do this. BTW, Lightroom is wonderful! I have bought software at Pantip Plaza to try and check stuff out, though often what I am interested in is not available. A few times the software did not work at all, but that is the chance you take. After I buy a copy and try it for awhile, and if I like it,  I start to save my $ to buy the real thing as it comes with support and also if no one bought the real software there would be no money for R&D. Granted, some of the software is obscenely priced but others not so.

David,

Many thanks for the offer. I've been a beta user since day one so I am interested in purchasing a copy. I live in Phuket and retired my US based credit cards and addresses several years ago so that's why I cannot purcahse a copy. I still have a P.O. Box in the US and may be able to change the billing address of one of my offshore credit cards for a day, download the software and then change it back again. But a lot of hassle for something that should be a no brainer.

Bjorn--The beta version was originally released just for Mac, then a few months afterwards for Windows as well. The available version now is for both.

I purchased LR and Lr2 upgrade online from Adobe as well as the upgrade to CS3 with no problems. I did give a US address but the credit card had my BKK address. No problems whatsoever.

Have not purchased the recent release Photoshop CS4 to update my CS3, but a few months ago did buy the Lightroom 2 update--personally think it is a great program. A few days ago Adobe put out a free online update to Lightroom, ver. 2.1.

I was listening to a ‘LightSource’ podcast today and one of the speakers said he is still using CS2 and because he is now doing almost all of his adjustments in Lr2 he feels no need to upgrade to CS4. It was the David Bean interview.
