There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Swinging LCDs.

Hi everyone, I would like to put a question to the forum about your thoughts on why, the top end ranges of DSLR cameras do not have pivoting LCD screens,(unless I've missed one somewhere), it seems to me to be such a advantage over the fixed screen that the manufacturers haven't slotted a model in at the top somewhere, or am I alone in thinking pivoting is better ?

DSLRs don't have live LCD screens. The screens are only there to review your image. So the question is not pivot/not pivot but live/not live. Right now, there simply isn't the technology to provide DSLRs with live LCDs of sufficient quality to replace an optical viewfinder. Maybe in a couple years, there will be lighter, smaller, swivel-LCD DSLRs without optical viewfinders. It would be great as swivel-LCDs really do help explore new angles...

Actually, same here. I'd also hate if DSLR cameras became compact and stopped feeling like an SLR camera.

So.... I'm not allowed to oppose the idea of replacing optical viewfinders with LCDs
what is you point here Gregoire am I annoying you by having a different opinion than you, I thought that is what a forum is all about.
Anyway, gotta go, Tea is ready in my aunts place, maybe even cookies

Hi guy's, thank's for the quick response, your tit for tat gave me a laugh, but it just goes to show really how new I am to this game, but as they say " your never too old to learn", but I do like the swinging LCD on my Konica Minolta Dimage A200.
Now I don't know wether to take the plunge for a DSLR, or wait untill someone brings one out with a swinging LCD. !!!
A thankyou to Marc for putting this forum together, Iv'e learned so much in the short time Iv'e been a member.

Yeah, Bjorn, that's exactly what I meant: no right to disagree. I'll let you quote my exact words cuz I can't seem to find anything I said that points to that but maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.
