First, I want to thank Marc for creating this forum and, second, I want to apologize to him for posting about a photography festival in Cambodia! However, the Angkor Photography Festival is about Southeast Asian photography so I hope many members of this forum will be interested in our work.
The Angkor Photography Festival is Southeast Asia’s first annual photography event. It brings together people of diverse nationalities and cultures in the spirit of creativity and exchange. It is Southeast Asia’s hub for Asian photographers as well as photographers with an interest in Asia. In addition to exhibits and evening projections, the festival has developed training workshops for young Asian photographers, and outreach projects for disenfranchised Cambodian youth.
The inaugural Angkor Photography Festival was held in Siem Reap, Cambodia, from October 22-29, 2005. Internationally renowned photographers presented fifteen print exhibitions and forty outdoor projections on large screens to the public. Slide show presentations with historical retrospectives on Asia as well as new works about the region promoted passionate dialogue and were the focal points of the festival alongside educational workshops.
Obviously we hope anyone living in Thailand and interested in photography will be interested in this year's festival. We have tentatively scheduled the festival for Nov. 25th until Dec. 1st and will be holding workshops, exhibits and projections as well as a professional workshop held by the famous VII photo-agency.
