There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Could anyone recommend an excellent photography workshop or courses I can take in Bangkok? I took basic photography while I was studying in an art school in the US and now that I've graduated, I really miss it. I would like to extend my photo studies during my free time.

Also, where in Bangkok can I rent out b&w and color photo darkrooms?

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

I don't think there are any active photography courses or workshops in English around Bangkok at the moment.

Cedric Arnold runs one in French at the Alliance Francais, but unless you speak French I am not sure if it would be suitable.

As for rental labs, I head there is a place on Ploenchit Road close to the Wireless Road intersection that rents out a dark room. I am sorry I can't remember the name right now, but if you take the sky train to the Ploenchit station you will see the sign in the window of the place from the platform. I am not sure about rates though or how equipped they are.

If anyone else knows anything further about this lab please feel free to post on this subject.

Thanks Marc. I'll check out the lab at Ploenchit. I've been running around town asking people about rental labs, but no one could give me an answer. Thank god for this forum! =)

Hello all,
Pretty sure a friend studied photo at Alliance Francais in ENGLISH. The classes are in the evening. Check it out. She said it was very good and they have level 1&2

You may be right. Probably the best thing to do is to drop Cedric Arnold (the instructor) an E-mail directly to find out for sure. You can get in touch with him through his web site at www.realfeatures.com

Hi, KrsOrO,

I went through that search last year, a difficult search as nobody seems to know where.  I finally found Alliance Francaise.  Cedric Arnold was the teacher of Basic Photography and it was in English.  I learned a lot from it.  Eager to do the Advanced Level, I enrolled the following semester but class was cancelled as I was the only one who enrolled.  Then I went and search again - only to find out that all the other photo schools are in Thai.

Their phone number is:  02-670-4200.  Check their website as well.  Classes start April 20 so get going if you must.

I signed up again for Advanced Class, in the hope that there will be at least 6 students (the minimum).

So, if anyone there knows of apprenticeship/or classes on advanced photography please let me know - in case I can't make it to Alliance Francaise.
