I am pleased to announce that Gregg and I have worked hard to implement a number of recent Forum abuse protection controls in order to reduce the number of spammers from signing up on the Forum who come here for the sole purpose of posting spam and link backs to other potentially dangerous web sites. Spam is a thing which wastes people's time, poses security risks, and consumes site resources. Not to mention it takes up admin time to monitor and remove it. As a result, anyone having made less than a total of 3 forum message posts will no longer be able to perform any of the following on the site:
1 - Edit one's own user profile to add links to another web site, add a personal Avatar to their own profile, or add a message signature containing links or other personal info.
2 - Add file attachments of any sort to a message post.
3 - Start any new message posts (except in the Guest Book section).
4 - Add any Web URL links into posts, link in photos, or any other type of media media using HTML code in a message post.
5 - Add any photos to the Gallery section.
We feel that these 5 system control measures will pretty much eradicate spam from occurring on the site by preventing spammers from signing up for a new member account and then immediately trying to add in spam posts with links as they typically do.
And so as soon as a new member has made a total of 3 legitimate message posts, all of these normal member features will be enabled by the system for the new member automatically. If you already have made more than 3 message posts on the site at this point then you should not be affected by any of the above new-member site limitations. We also welcome all new members who have signed up recently and look forward to having your participation on existing message posts so that you can have all of the above features enabled on your member account as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, we will still manually monitor message posts and continue to delete any spam messages and ban members who are of a spammer nature in order to keep this Forum running as a clean and useful resource for information about photography in Thailand for our valued members.
