There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Marc, I fully agree with your analysis in teharticle you just posted. On the other hand I think it is also quite understandable because we are talking about 2 cameras which are about 3 years apart, I think, in terms of concept plus at a very difefrent level. I am wondering though if sisgnificant differences may be noticed also between, for example, the 5D and the 1Ds Mark II, both full frame and both relatively new. Have you ever compared them?

I haven't compared the 1DS Mark II and the 5D first hand, but both are full frame and resolution is quite similar, so I don't expect there to be such a significant difference in terms of the issues I was discussing. There are of course big differences in functionality of the two cameras, which can effect results in different ways.
I imagine though the detail curve between the new 30D and the DS Mark II might be pretty big, despite the fact that the 30D is a newer camera than the 1DS Mark II, again the detail curve being one of the main issues of my article.
Much of my point had to do with detail differing vastly when comparing detail quality on cameras that have large differences in resolution. So on that basis, I think the differences still exist even between a newer model camera like the 30D and the 1DS Mark II which when compared have the same DIGIC 2 processor, but large differences in resolution. If this is not the case though, I would be quite surprised.
