Humidity and equipment
«

Hi
I am soon moving to Bangkok and was wondering how the humidity affects camera equipment. Specifically, I am now looking at buying a new D-SLR and have been looking at either the Nikon D80 or the D200.
Asking people over here in Sweden (where I am living now) I get mixed answers. Some say that the D80 will definitely last a tropical climate, while others recommend me to be safe and get the sturdier D200 (but there goes all my savings...).
What's the opinion of you all having lived there for a while? Anyone with a D70 who have had any problems?
(I am vey much into nature/birdwatching and are hoping to spend many weekends and holidays out in forests, swamps etc)
Thanks,
Jorgen Eriksson

2 years ago in was taking shots in the kao yai national parc close to a waterfall. + it was raining. My camera Nikon D 100 at that time take drops of water. As soon as i can i reached the car and clean it up + put the body in a bag with silicate salt. Cannot do better on the pape. I was not enough the electronic system was dead. Cost me a lot to repair in Bangkok at Niks official Nikon dealer.
So from my point of view go for the D 200 if you wanna be safe. Even it's not seal as good as the D2X... even they told you the opposite on the brochure. But would be much better than the D80. + D200 is the best prosumer camera regarding it's price of the moment. i'd not hesitate.
