There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

I had a discussion with Simon two days ago about what is my favourite subject for photography, and have been thinking about that. I guess I try to photograph things that are not very obvious subjects at first but by taking a closer look at them and photographing them i try  to turn them into an interesting picture.
An example of what I mean.
And I'm very interested to find out your favourite subjects.

Bjorn,

Thanks for posting your pic.  It's always interesting to see how other photographers view and capture places one has been to as well.

On the subject of subject matter I always wonder how living in Thailand affects ones photography.  As a westerner here the culture is so different from back home that it is natural we want to capture what is different - the temples, the monks, hilltribes, the festivals as well as the natural beauty of beaches, mountains, etc.

So I find that my photography subject matter reflects this.  Like a lot of  people in their photography I am trying to find something different while shooting the ususal things, as well as finding unusal subject matter.  It's hard to be original!

Having only really taken up photography since leaving my home country I often wonder in what way my photography would have developed in a different direction if I spent my time shooting back home.  It's nice to travel Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, etc. and very easy to be inspired by these places.  But in suburban farangland it can be a diffrent story - perhaps you are forced to be more creative, to widen your horizons there?

Anyway, to everyone in this Forum may I say it is great to see your work whether it be a sunset on Koh Tao or tangled power lines in BKK.  It's always nice to be inspired to seek out new subject matter wherever you are.

Simon.
