There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Lately people have been asking me about classes again.

Today I landed on a snippet in BKK Magazine about fashion photography courses at the Alliance Francaise at 29 South Sathorn Road. Tel 02-670-4234. They also listed a web site, www.alliance-francaise.com

Hi, Marc,
Last week I spent some time getting some information from Alliance Francaise regarding Fashion Photography classess.  I went there last Saturday, and as of that date they do not have enough students to hold a class which would have started last Tuesday.  Contact person is Khun Ankara of the Arts Dept.  Anna

Thanks for that info Anna. I would have thought people would have been scooping it up. Afterall, fashion photography relates very much to portrait photography and the knowledge learned could be cross applied for people who are say, more interested in learning portrait photography than fashion.

Anyway, did they happen to mention who would be teaching it? If it is a well known fashion photographer I might be interested to poke my head in as well.

Marc, classes for you?  You should be the one teaching. Wink
I did not get the name of the teacher.  It is not Cedric.  New teacher from Colombia?  I know it's somewhere Spanish speaking.  Accdg. to information I got, lessons will be in English and some French.
I think part of the problem why less people register is lack of marketing. Since I've taken classes in Alliance Francaise, I had requested at least three times to be on the mailing list for new classes.  I heard about the Fashion Photography from a forum member.  Several times I called the school but could not get through and even when I went there, they don't have the information I need - sample photos of the teacher, course outline, etc.  It's a pity because there were three of us who were going to enrol, which would have filled the class requirement.
To date, I don't know if they were able to come up with the required number.  I've decided to take a different learning route.

Thank you Anna for the additional information. It actually sounds like a case of major disorganization rather than lack of marketing. Unfortunate I think because there are people like yourself who are truly interested to learn and sounds like if they could get their act together it could probably go quite well.

Hi, I too have had major problems trying to get in contact.  After calling numerous times, noone picks up the phone and than the day that the actual class started I called and spoke to someone (I was quite stunned at first) in regard to attending that night, he said he will give me a call back but I never received any phone calls.  There are so many people that would be interested in these courses - what a shame that they cannot get there act together. It makes me not want to give my money to something that is done so half heartedly, I mean is this what the actual course would be like disorganised and unreliable? anyway enough whining  :)

Earlier this week I sent an enquiring email to the address above and got this reply within a day:

"Please find enclosed the outlines of the two photography courses proposed in English at the Alliance française International Art Centre.

The session started last week, so if you want to join now you will only miss one class. The session lasts about three months until the Christmas holidays.

The following session will start next January. If you wish to apply you just have to come to the reception of the Alliance française opened from Monday till

Saturday from 9am to 5pm.

The fee for the session is 4 550 THB.
