I'm looking for a wide angle lens at the moment. I have a Canon 20d. My only lens at the moment is the 24-70 2.8L and its fine but I'd like something wider to complement it.
A friend was telling me about a new tamron 11mm- ? (not sure exactly) or theres the canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. Any recommendations?
Thanks

I can't tell you about the Canon version, but my K-M 11-17 is amazing. Big, not very heavy but an amazing angle of view and
somewhat distortion free. The sharpness is a bit hard to judge because, considering the angle of view, everything in the
picture is relatively small and far away. Foreground objects that are close enough to be big in the picture are rendered sharply
though if they're really close and the focus is on them, the background can get soft -- so a small aperture, a tripod or anti-shake is helpful. Lots of info on the lenses at dpreviews.

Another non-Canon opinion: I was in sore need of a wide after plunging for a first digital camera with a D200, and after much searching ended up getting the Tokina 12-24/f4. I like the subtle distortion btw. 12-18, and it's super sharp and feels and handles really well. The manual focus "clutch" is very nice too, although my girlfriend and I don't often pop it into auto. It should also fit on film cameras, with vignetting disappearing at 16mm and up, although we haven't tried yet.

Hi, David,
Curious to find out if you got the wide angle lens yet and how is it coming?  I have a 20D with lens exactly like yours and I would not mind getting a wide angle lens as well.  Please give me details - price, name and your opinion.  Thanks.  Anna

Thanks.  How is the distortion?  The less, the better for me.  Anna
