they're great, jingle, but what's up with the color cast? they almost look like scanned film.

Hi Gregoire/Bjorn, you were right they were scanned film, I used a Kodak400ASA colour film for these shots with my KM SLR. Because of the wind and the dust I did not use my DSLR for fear of it entering the camera sensor. I even have to pay 10 Yuan to take the photos of the Yak. I always carry two cameras with me to play safe, both can also use the same lenses as well. Still need to learn more I guess.

Well shooting in 35mm has its benefits. For the same frame, you need to use  a longer focal length than on your DSLR. That throws the background out of focus--a nice effect in this case. As for the color correction, do you scan yourself, or have it done? If you scan yourself, yes, you should learn how to do it. If you have it done, kick your lab's butt. The colors are mostly there, in your neg, they just need to be retrieved properly.

I agree with David. 10 yuan was a steal for that prize-winning Yak!

Hi Gregoire/David, I agree with you that with DSLR the results would have been different. I scanned it myself with Dimage Scan Dual III (there are newer models now) and I think the application of USM was rather too much. This was the first time I saw this kind of animal and didn't really blink an eye when charged, if you pose with the Yak it will cost you more. This place is already 3,500M above sea level and the peak is 5,000M but didn't go that high. I plan to go back there again sometimes next year during summer. Thanks guys for the comments.
