There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Do you recommend some specific nice places in Bangkok to take pictures of Loi Kratong?

It is coming quite soon, 4th of November.

Thanks for any suggestion,

Do you recommend some specific nice places in Bangkok to take pictures of Loi Kratong?--away from the crowds, a lot easier said than done. But even with crowds you can get lucky and come up with some nice shots. Usually anywhere near a body of water can be crowded. I will defer and let someone else recommend a good spot for Loy Kratong night, as usually I am out of BKK on that date.

I don't mind about crowds. I was thinking of a garden with a big pond. I think it should be better than along the Chao Praya river. Do you know if Lumpini garden is opened during the night of Loi Kratong?

What about the lake at the Tobacco Monopoly? I can imagine that it would be a great photo op with plenty of room for setup. Does anyone know if it will open and in use during the festival?

Regis,

The Lake in the park beside Emporium has a lot of people and fireworks etc, I went there last year.

I think that most people head out the the Chao Praya.

Still don't know where I will go. Maybe Nonthaburi.

I found this website with different locations all around Thailand http://www.loikrathong.net/EN/

I was celebrating Loy Krathong once at a restaurant on the bank of the river at Nonthaburi. It is still quite crowded, yet plenty of opportunities to take good photos.

Cheers

Sorry for the late reply. It was part of the restaurant (outside area) called "River Hut".

ALex,

Any pictures to share?

I was in Lumpini park. It was nice with low light ambience.

I will try to post end of this week.
