Excellent colour but also I like the bokeh on these shots as you have very nicely made the subjects stand out. I presume you were using a mid range telephoto but what I'm really curious about is if they were hand held? If so then you leave me in awe as to how you can hold so steady. I can't get anywhere near this perfect crystal clarity and I'm envious.

Thanks Chris.

Yes they were all handled. I have used AF-S VR Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8

First pic is 1/1000s f/2.8 at 75mm iso100
Second pic is 1/500s f/5.6 at 105mm iso100
Third pic is 1/800s f/2.8 at 70mm iso100

So at such speed, the VR is not useful and no problem to handhold. I was at the first row, sometimes standing to take pictures and then sit down as some Thai people complain the farang is too tall! I also moved 'inside' the parade to get first and second pic.

Thanks Regis for the details. It helps me get an idea what to be aiming for at my next parade.
I was just looking over your images again and was noticing how nice it is that people were holding umbrellas in the distance (and they even seem to be colour co-ordinated too). Often you get mouldy buildings as a background so I think these umbrellas are welcome at parades (unless they happen to be blocking you in the foreground I suppose).

Wonderful. I hope someday to catch this festival, I like Ubon and province very much. On your good pictures, I went to the site TWW, the link uinder your posts. Do I understand these are all yours. Really nice, colors are vibrant, and more cool portraits and photography.

They're all good and third one is my favorite.  I took some parade photos in Phuket last weekend, none came out good.

Hi Anna

this is probably a good place (maybe another section, I dunno) as any to let us know why you are not happy with the shots. Your light handling, your (com) positionning, subject approach, lack of interest? I of course suppose you wish you had some good ones out of it.
