These shots were taken at the Phu Phrabat Historical Park, one of the main  attractions  in Udornthani province with an array of strange rock formations. It is awfully hot but worth the visit.

Thanks for posting these pics - always great to hear about new places we can all go to for interesting subjects.

One question if I may - what time of day were these shots?  I'm thinking that early in the morning or later in the day with a low sun you may get some interesting colours, silhouettes and shadows.  Or is it in a place that would be difficult to reach say for sunrise?

Simon.

Hi Simon,
Thanks a lot for the comments, it was duriing Songkran when I took these shots so the weather was unforgiving and hot, we reached this place at almost noon and I have no choice but just take the best shots I can get as we have to move on to other places during our short stay in Udon. It was my first ever trip there too.

The light in Thailand is very unforgiving at the best of times I have found, and it looks even more savage here.

Nice location, and definitely worth a visit earlier/later in the day in the future :)

MahonyWeb, you were right about the weather in this country, so unpredictable sometimes. This park is quite huge and you need sometime to be able to cover the entire place. I also plan to go back there again in the future. There are many places of interest in this province as well as the nearby one, Nongkhai. I was able to cross the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge but up the border only, forgot to bring the passport. The locals only need their IDs.
