I have Two 350D Canons that I want to sell to fund an upgrade.

One was being fixed in the UK under warranty, as there was no loan camera available, I got another body to use with my lenses – intending to resell it on ebay.
Unfortunately, the repaired camera took some time after being booked in, then I didn’t get the opportunity of ebay, so I have returned to Thai with them.

What I need to know:

Where is the best place to off-load them?
On e-bay or a local shop that does trades, I have had a word in Foto-File and got a estimated value, does AV Camera do trade ins?
I have seen a local paper – but magazine like “LOOT” does anyone know what this is named.

Many Thanks for any reply’s

As far as online I would recommend checking fredmiranda.com. You'd have to join (free) but they have a very active buy and sell forum. Things sell very quickly there - often in hours only. You would want to linger for a while first and maybe build up some posts/history there as a newcomer wanting to sell right away may not be trusted as much as someone who has been around a while. The forums are well worth visiting anyway as there is a ton of useful info - something like a million members now I think. I have sold and bought there and was happy at how quick things move and that the prices are fair market value by knowledgeable photo enthusiasts. There is a fairly strong peer based feedback system in place so you can check feedback of anyone you deal with before committing. Some great gear is available there but it sells quickly.

When I sold my 300D that way the buyer wasn't worried about it being fake but the possibility I wouldn't ship anything. In fact, that could happen from any country as when people pay by Paypal I think there is vague/no protection for non-US buyers/sellers. I sent him a photo of my passport main page to confirm identity and to set his mind at ease. This worked and he completed the transaction. I have found that it can be done even if it's not always as easy. The best policy is to be completely above board with details and state right up front that it's here in Thailand and why. Having an honest attitude seems to create confidence. Always ship by some traceable method for anything of value. You will need the tracking number if the buyer claims non-shipment to Paypal. Having the tracking number usually disqualifies such a claim.

There is a lot of fakes shipped from Thailand (but not cameras that I have ever heard of) and you'd be surprised at how many people don't even know this. In fact, you'd be surprised that some Americans don't know that Bangkok or Thailand is outside the states... I know this from experience!
