There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Yummy Marc, maybe I could add my Somtan to make it more appetizing to the viewers.

Marc--I take it this was shot outside in the mid-day sun, or somewhere where the sun was very bright. I would have preferred it maybe not so bright, but by the time you pulled out a Photodisc or piece of cloth to shade it a bit it could have well been eaten.  Cheesy  What I liked was the onions on top of each other like Olympic rings.
Jingle--nice som tam, as a plate of larb almost demands it. No sticky rice?  Grin

Thanks Dave. It was actually lit with 3 lights on a food shooting setup in a restaurant. The high contrast with the strong highlights was intentional. It is a style of food photography. I have others where the light is more flat and balanced, but I seem to prefer this one a bit more. Best...

I am attaching another shot of the Larb using more balanced light and from a different angle. This one was shot using 4 lights.

Thanks for adding the Som-Tum Jingle. What is Esarn food without Som-Tum right?

Marc--On 2nd viewing it does not look as bright as it did early this AM. The bulb burnt out in the light I usually use, and I turned on another brighter lamp to the left of where I was sitting. Also, I was viewing it on a laptop and just a slight tilt of the screen can really change the contrast. I remember standing and looking down at a laptop screen, viewing the work of a photographer friend who does nice stuff and thought "Whoa, these photos are way overexposed". Then when I got lower looking straight at the screen the overexposure was gone and everything was fine.
BTW, shooting RAW it took me awhile to grasp the concept that overexposure is better as too much info is lost when underexposed. It can be brought down in Photoshop, whereas when a slide was overexposed it was usually a candidate for the trash can.

Hi Davird, I forgot the Sticky Rice as there was none around when I took the shot but the fried chicked was next to the  foam plates.

Marc, you were right, what is Esarn food without the Somtam so I thought of adding it to your thread and hope you didn't mind. I was trying to log on yesterday but somehow there must be something wrong with my connection or PC but I could use the hotmail and yahoo website but not the Forum. I just managed to open it today.
