There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Ok, here's the deal, straight from BK Magazine:

"Small contemporary photo exhibition Flour is run by Analog Memory, a group of film photography devotees in the digital age. They portray the lives and stories of people around Khao San and Banglampoo. Through Sep 30. Sripoom Bar, Chakrapong Rd., Banglampoo, 02-281-4445. Open daily 11am-1am."

I'm meeting some of these guys there today, August 26 2006 at 4PM. Come check it out.

Chris, I think the filter>distort>lens correction>vignette in CS2 works better (and is faster) than the technique on Istock for darkened corners but it's otherwise a good tutorial. I'm glad you liked it and your pic looks very nice as a "Lomo". Oh and there aren't any cameras that shoot like this always since cross-processing is a decision you make after you shoot the roll.

Right you are about not shooting always that way - just slipped into a brain fog while writing that.

I lived near Kao San for over 3 years but never got too familiar with the bars there. Is Sripoom one of the ones on Chakrapong just near Rambuttri? I recall a coffee shop being there.

I'm tempted to head over this afternoon as I wanted to get some prints made in Thewet anyway.

Ok. Found it where I thought it was and had a look. Steamy hot upstairs!
I found it somewhat interesting and got a better idea of the style.
Dropped in after going all the way to Thewet and realizing once there that I brought the wrong memory card - doh!
Thanks for the info. It's good to get out and see things. I'm often just too lazy.

Chris had it right, it's just by the T-junction of Rambuttri and Th. Chakrabongse--very close to Khao San. The bar's sign is just a small blackboard on the sidewalk so watch out for the Illy and Heineken luminous signs at the first floor. This exhibition runs through Sept.30 and it's only hot upstairs when the bar isn't packed enough to need both floors. They make great cocktails and the place is quite cute. When I got there, I realized I'd shot it for BK Magazine a couple weeks ago!

I met with the "Analog Memory" gang of photagraphers and they lent me a Lomo Kompakt Automat and a Holga. I'll be testing both this week and of course I'll keep you updated on my findings. Meanwhile, go grab some mojitos at Sripoom Bar!

Oh and Chris, I found the shops you told me about. That was exactly what I was looking for. Turned out the "Analog Memory" boys were in there at same day as well! Thanks a bunch.

Sripoom did look like quite a cosy place and they did have air con upstairs for when they need it. I would have stopped for a mocha or beer perhaps but I was feeling a need to get home by then. I think they have a convenient and visible location. Hopefully they'll have other photo exhibits in the future too.

This is it. All my hard work is now available for free at a Starbucks near you (and some other places).

Pick up BK Magazine and see what I've been doing with my time for the past months (ok not only that).

Lomo, Holga, Polaroid, they're all in this week's issue of BK Magazine

Come and get it!!!
