There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

The world famous and only Bamboo Organ which is still in use today is in Las Pinas, south of Manila and less than an hour drive from the city center. The cutting of the bamboo and selection of woods began in 1916 and the Bamboo Organ was completed in 1921 without the reed stops. In 1924, one hundred twenty two reed-pipes were added. A must-see when in the Philippines.

Terribly sorry, the years should be 1816, 1821 and 1824.

Jingle--really enjoyed the photos from this post as I lke hearing the old organs, especially if they were mechanical playing from a roll or a book. Had no idea about this one, thanks for sharing it. I usually am in the Philippines every year to go diving, and will put this on my to do list. Did you have any buko pie while you were there?  Cheesy

Hi David,

Thanks, actually it was my first time to see this historical Bamboo Organ too when I took the photos. Yes, Buko Pie is something I never missed to grab a bite specially in Laguna. Anna was telling this Forum about your diving expeditions in the Philippines so you must really be enjoying the dive sites in the country I guess. Too bad I can only manage to visit the Philippines once or twice a year so I still have to find some interesting places there that I have not seen before. I bet you have more to share too specially underwater photography in this Forum.

Jingle--Twice a year to the Philippines, not too shabby. I have been making it there the last few years every spring to go diving with friends. I will post some u/w shots when I get a bit more free time. I guess I will post some u/w shots from Thailand first.

Hi David,
I am looking forward to seeing those photos in this forum. To tell you frankly, underwater photography was one of my interests but unfortunately did not get to do it at all. I have joined some groups to Mactan and El Nido during their diving expeditions but had to settle to shoot anything above the water. It would have been nice to do it now with DSLR when you can shoot a lot without having to change film like before. Thanks.
