There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Magnum, the well known photo agency started as a cooperative in France by Henri Cartier-Bresson and others in 1947, I just discovered now has a web site called "Magnum In Motion" which showcases multimedia photo essays from a number of their well known photographers. Some very interesting content and the insight shared by the photographers is very inspiring. Take a look: http://www.magnuminmotion.com/

I particularly like the insight from Steve McCurry in his essay called "The Aesthetic Hunter" which you can find here: http://inmotion.magnumphotos.com/essays/mccurry.aspx?lg=popup

The sad essay by Alex Majoli about life in the favela (slums) of Brazil is also interesting.

These essays are sound and video intensive so they will require a decent broadband connection for them to play smoothly.

Enjoy...

Very inspiring indeed, Mark.  Photos of McCurry can sure stir your emotions.  Been out of the forum for a while and I miss it.  Got back from a trip to California recently.  Was very busy even before my trip and up until now.  Hopefully will be in track soon so I could actively join the forum again.  Anna

Anna, welcome back. I am sure we will be expecting a lot of interesting photos from you soon in this Forum. What happened with your photo shooting during the Royal Barge Procession?

That is great. If you could download the whole thing and watch offline that would be brilliant. I was hoping for that actually because even on my 1MB ADSL connection they are a bit choppy. If you hear anything more about it please let us know.

Hi, Jingle, I do have some photos from the Royal Barge, taken quite differently actually.  I went to the preparation time by the oarsmen - while they were having lunch and donning on their costumes.  It has been crazy the past month - U.S. then moving to another house, among other things.  Will definitely post them once I've organized my life.  Leaving for Malaysia and Philippines next week again. Putting our family trip now actually looking for good rates.  Anna

I can see how busy you are, take your time and let us see your recent photos in this Forum when you are back in  Bangkok.
Have a nice time in Malaysia and the Philippines.
