Nice shots Marc, how about some colour 0nes. I was as the Taksin Bridge but missed the last boat and the one available will  not even reach the Memorial Bridge, I figured I will not make it so I didn't bother, even the one where you pay Baht 500.00 for a seat was fully booked. I had some good shots last Tuesday but since the oarsmen were wearing coloured shirts only I don't think it is comparable to the one today.

Thank you Jingle. I posted them in B&W mainly because I feel it is a classical subject that looks better in monochrome, indicative of the era that the history follows. Sorry, was that a run-on sentence?

Attaching a more obvious shot in color.

Best wishes...

Hi Marc,
This shot is great with the Santa Cruz Church in Thonburi in the background. A friend from Thammasat University is giving me a free ticket on the 6th and would be there for sure. I don't know what the weather like will be that day at the university grounds' side but will not miss this opportunity. I will post it for sure if they turn to be worth sharing.

Another shot taken yesterday as the most important barge passes in front of Wat Pra Gaew. My apologies for the copyright watermark overlay, but this is a popular angle for an editorial shot and want to discourage possible unauthorized web usage on other sites.

Thank you. Unfortunately really hard to take any credit for any of the shots since it is all happenning so fast with little time to really think or compose.

Hi Sophie. On the shots that are tightly cropped I was using the Canon 100-400mm zoom lens and on the wider angle stuff I was using the Canon 24-105mm lens. But of what I posted here, all except for the shot of the boat in front of Wat Pra Gaew, I was using the 100-400mm lens. I hope this helps. Best...

I went to Rama 8 Bridge hours before the procession.  My intent was to take photos of the rowers before the rehearsal.  Chatted with them in my broken Thai while they were lunching.  I have photos of them donning on their uniforms.  I didn't know those loosely half pants are actually a big piece of sarong rolled up front, pulled and secured towards the back..... Hard to describe but I took shots of each step.  Interesting.  I had prints made and gave to them on their next rehearsal.  All of a sudden I have this huge crowd more than happy to pose for me.  I had fun.

Hi Anna,
You really came up with something different from what I had thought you would take during the rehearsal. I don't know how you managed to be there with the rowers but it is nice to see a different view of the performers and not just when they are at the river. Can you post the B/W in colour mode. Thanks.

Really nice pictures of Royal Barge Rehearsal.

Too bad I couldn't go to Thailand at that time.
