Great tones and contrast. Is there any reason you are using the LAB method to covert to B&W? I tried it a few times and found I still have much better control using the Channel Mixer in conjunciton with levels and contrast.

Thanks.  I agree that using channel mixer gives you more flexibilty in pulling/pushing individual colors.  I like to experiment with different B&W conversion methods.  I can't put a finger on why, but on some pics I seem to get a wider tonal range when converting to LAB and then tossing the color (A and B) layers.  Theoretically most of the noise is in those layers so that may help with the look as well.  On this particular image I added an "Ektalure" color balance layer (+2, 0,-4) when back in RGB mode to warm it up.  A tip I learned from Photoshop user mag.
