There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Storm Clouds over Bangkok

Relative to the present meteorological conditions:
Photo 01 - Looking towards Sathorn Road
Photo 02 - Looking towards Wireless Road
Photo 03 - Looking towards the Chao Phraya River.
These three photographs were taken from Sathorn Soi 1. Taken from a high building and taken during the last three or four years.
Having lived at the top of the building in question I am fully aware of what Anna mentions: The claps of thunder and the rather frightening prospect of continuous lightning. To calm my young children's feasr we had to talk about "free heavenly fireworks".

Dear katjuschka,
I took the photo to which you refer a few years ago and cannot really remember how much I edited it. It was taken with an Olympus E20 digital camera. I do very little editing to my photographs in general. I do not believe in editing too much since in my view the wholepoint is to record what you see. I guess I edited for a clear and bright photo.
Kind regards - Michael Reid

Michael, did you make it to BKK days ago?

Funny thing, Anna, we most have almost stepped on each others toes :)

Michael, liked the b/w one where the cloud looks like it could swallow up the cityscape. Nice colors in the sky on the MBK/Discovery walkway., Michael and Anna. BTW, often particles in the air from bad pollution can make for dramatic colors in photos, especially sunset time--I guess that is the optimistic way of looking at pollution. :)

Thanks, David, you're right, it is the pollution that gives this dramatic effect. Vegard, was that you who took the spot I wanted to shoot from? Just kidding. Isn't this eerie, though? We even both have the same bright specks of white shaped like slanted eyes of an animal on the black buildings. I must have pressed the shutter few seconds before you did because in yours, the crane is up lifted already.
