There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Young Artist

This highschool girl was one of the participants during the painting contest held to celebrate Visakha Bucha Day. More than 100 school children from ages 4 - 16 participated and I believe this young aspiring artist has the most potential of them all after looking around. She didn't want to face the camera though, perhaps she wants me to focus on her masterpiece instead.

Wonderful. I think I like it without her face showing, actually. Then your eyes just go directly to the painting. Good drawing, good shot, too.

Thanks Anna, actually I stood there for more than 20 minutes to see her applying the finishing touch using just ordinary colouring kit and nothing fancy. I bet she will be a successful artist in the future. I also took photos of the others but this one is the best.

Nice. :) I like the red band around the table and the red background, as it offsets the rest of the photo and contrasts nicely with the lighter color on the top of the table. Was that red background really there, or did you do it w/Photoshop? Either way, it is still nice and I agree with Anna I like the composition without showing her face.

It was a red carpet laid down as all the participants were seated on the floor with a small table for each of them to work on. There was no retouching on this shot, maybe because the roof is a transparent plastic cover and the light from the outside (11:00 am) helped the composition. I focused on the painting only without even thinking that the red carpet will add more colour to the photo. Thanks for the comments pal.

I bet that piece won the contest. The little girl knew the exact combination of colors. She must me well take care of because she will replace someday the few of today's best artist.
