There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

First off I'd like to say hello to everyone as I am new to the forum. I am a Canadian freelance photographer and have been working and travelling in Australia for the past year. At the end of January I will be on my way to Thailand for one to two months of holidays. I was going to post a thread on this very subject since I will be arriving with all my gear which include multiple lenses, two camera bodies, a number of flash units, light meter, etc, etc... I guess my main concern is that after hearing of the trouble with the current CENSORED WORD I wonder what problems I may come across since I may be looked at as a journalist. I'm an action-sports photographer and will be on holidays, but has anyone experienced any problems lately lugging pro gear around? This will be my first trip to Southeast Asia so any tips and suggestions apart from the obvious is much appreciated.

Thanks.

Jason, nothing much has changed here this year, it is as safe as it has ever been.  I am not a fulltime photographer and as such cannot comment on that, but I have been on the street taking photos and did not notice any changes.  Like any place in the world, keep an eye on your stuff.

the biggest problem is the airlines.... the limits are on carryon are getting smaller and smaller. this would be my main concern. i travel with 4x5 or 8x10 with lenses change tents etc etc etc. the only time i worry is at the air port.
