There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Having lived in Thailand for over twenty years, I have now chosen to avoid the heat and live in New Zealand.  However, I do enjoy my periodic visits to the land of smiles !

My last visit to Thailand involved a trip to Mae Hong Son and to Laos.  Most of my work was taken with a Leica and then scanned to form digital photographs.  Digital photographs are fun but one can never seem to be able to achieve a veritable exhibition size.  For this reason I either use 35mm or 120mm film.  This can then be scanned and made into a veritable size A2 photograph.  I also use an 8X10 Large format Camera, when I am at my residence in New Zealand.

I have attached some of my photographs from Mae Hong Son.  Of course the accusation will be perennial tourist photographs, but alas I have to travel with a family of teenagers and cannot always devote myself to that exceptional artistic photo.  One in a hundred is my rule of thumb.

Herewith some photos of young Karien girls.

the tones in the second two photos are fantastic. Thanks for sharing. What lens/film were you using? Did you develop in Thailand?
