It does look nice, but wonder if I purchased it if I would always be thinking I should have gone to the poorhouse and gotten a Leica M9. One friend who does have an M9 bought the Fuji X10. He said "I like the X10. But you can't compare it to the Leica in any way. It's just a nice and small pocket camera, with flash. For family gatherings, trips to the supermarket, etc."
Interesting as a pal of mine shoots Canon SLR's for many years, and bought a Leica M9 last summer. Said the images need so much less post processing than the Canon, and they really pop--a lot of that is no anti aliasing filter. For street shooting I think it is just an incredible camera--small, light, unobtrusive, with those incredible small Leica lenses. He has taken some great landscape stuff with it as well, though he admits under certain conditions an SLR would be a lot easier in regards to framing, ...
Sure there are mirrorless and 4/3 cameras a whole lot cheaper, but making prints using proper color management is what will separate the M9 from some of the other stuff--everything looks good on a computer monitor, but prints are the real test. No it is not a wildlife camera  as the longest lens for an M9 is I believe 135mm.
I remember as a boy in the early 60's a friend's dad had a Leica M3, thought it was beautiful design even back then though I did not realize what I liked about it but remember saying it was neat. Now many years later still think the M series Leicas are still the most elegantly designed cameras there are. One thing I like is their size, many SLR's have become bigger than an ocean liner. That is one thing I like about these Fujis and other cameras are the smaller size, but their is a limit to how small they can get and still be able to be handled easily.

Ray, thought it looked a bit familiar.  Grin  One thing I see with this Fuji camera is there is no anti aliasing filter--that is a good thing in regards to image quality because as I had mentioned images seem to pop with a lot less prodding.

Ray, the photos did look nice but Fuji is trying to sell this camera so they had better put good looking images out there.   http://thetravelphotographer.blogspot.com/2012/01/fuji-x-pro-1-hands-on-previews.html

Interesting link David.

Funny though to read about yet again another Leica killer.

Many have tried - non succeeded.

Contax G and it's great lenses - sadly no longer.
Konica Hexar RF - a fully automated M7.  - sadly no longer

Leica will survive, as it always has.

Ray--After viewing the videos this Fuji camera does look very nice. Leica will survive (but then again who ever thought Kodak would go belly up, or even Polaroid?) as you indicate but this camera will surely make them sit up and listen. A friend who is a long time Leica user said this "This might push Leica to innovate a little more. I don't want a fully automated camera but would like some improvements in focusing, LCD, and processing speed."
