Film Scanners

Does anyone know where to purchase a film scanner in Bangkok or Thailand? Due to the terrible flooding, a friend in Pattaya lost just about all of 25 years worth of photos here in Asia, though the negatives survived. I checked it seems every store at Pantip Plaza and as I was sure nothing. Checked some camera stores here in BKK and nothing as well. I know Nikon ceased scanner production a little over 2 years ago, as have many companies. One can go online and see scanners new and old of varying quality for sale, but does anyone know where he could pick up one in Thailand?

not many film strip scanner are still available. you can check B&H they have a selection. I bought a Canon 9000F, a flatbed scanner with negative scanning capability. it gives pretty good results and comes at a good price. should be available in bkk

I would try Niks on Silom, they always seem to be able to get me anything I need.
I just bought a new flatbed (Epson) at the big computer center on the third floor of Fortune Plaza (just use it for scanning papers though it did come with a slide holder)

@Michael--saw B&H had a varied selection but not sure how may would run on 220 w/o a converter, and also the shipping charges and possible duty would make it pricy. I will mention the Canon to him. @Paul--yes, Fortune Plaza is where I was going this weekend and if that does not pan out then I will try Niks next week. Thanks.
