Hello!

I just found this forum via Google. My name's Julia, I'm a Russian photographer living in BKK since 2004.
I would be really happy to get to know other photographers here!

I'm just starting up my photo journal (blog) here http://madnessart.com
And there is also http://juliajewel.com

What brought me here.. I was actually looking for simple card board frames and I found mentioning of this shop   http://www.grobyokglong.com/
Now I'm wondering if any of you actually used it?

Also, I saw Marc mentioning somebody bringing the frames from the States. I will have a business trip to US soon and was thinking if it's worth trying to find something there instead?

And finally, I am unable to edit my profile, cannot add avatar or website, nothing. Did I do something wrong? :)))

Nice meeting you!
Cheers,
JJ

Hi Julia - Welcome to the Forum and thanks for your introduction about yourself. I think you will find that everyone here is friendly and helpful. I also had a quick look at your web sites and your pictures are very nice. Thumbs Up Wink

In regards to your profile, unfortunately I had to disable profile access for new users until they reach a certain number of forum posts. This is because we had a lot of trouble with spammers recently singing up for accounts and using the profile area of the forum to hide links to their spam sites. The number of posts needed until you gain access to editing your profile is very low and in the meantime if you would like to add some info to your profile then you can send it to me via a PM and I will add it in for you. I will also send you a PM to let you know how many posts are required before you may edit your profile yourself as I decided not to put that information in any part of the Forum publicly as I don't want to share that info with spammers. It's a shame that there are so many people who want to abuse forums like this one for their spamming purposes, but since having put this measure in place recently our problems with spammers have become nearly non-existent. So it was a good move for us. That Rocks

Anyway, welcome aboard and look forwarding to seeing some of your photos posted in our Galleries as well.

Best wishes,

Marc

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the explanation. I get it :)

BTW, you did not reply about card board frames. Long story, old story or just currently irrelevant ? :)

I just have this order and my client wants card board frames, so I am researching it :) Anyway, I am already talking to the shop.

Cheers,
JJ

Can you please post the link to the thread where I was talking about to help refresh my memory? The web site with frames you posted I am not familiar with. Very sorry. A little bit more info please? Thanks.

Cardboard paper frames are not available though as far as I know. They would need to be designed and custom ordered from a printing company. The ones I had gotten that time were brought over by my client from the states to use for that job where they were needed. Sorry I can't be of more help on this, but they are not really used in Thailand.

Yeah, I was talking about cardboard paper frames, not albums.

I emailed the shop they say they have mat cardboard that they can cut in a shape or pattern I want.
Not sure what that means, so I'll just go there one of these days and see for myself.

How do you frame your photos usually? I'd like to have something relatively light both in weight and feel. Something seamless. But still it's better to have it with glass, right?

Thank you very much!

Hi Julia - I don't do much printing or framing normally myself. Usually just for exhibitions which is not very often and when I do I use inexpensive wood and glass. What I also suggest is that if you have other questions in general about where to source things in Bangkok that it is better for you to start some other discussions within the other general areas of the forum. This way you will also hopefully get some input from other forum members as well since I like to keep the forum more as a group discussion for every one's benefit. Also, I do have a section on the forum that provides a lot of info about various suppliers in Bangkok and the means of getting access to that area of the forum is explained further here if you are interested:

I hope that helps. Thanks. Marc  Grin
