There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Dear Photo friends
I'm totally blown away by this web page: http://www.360cities.net And I will start doing exactly that.  ROLF
Having several questions and appreciate if any of the forum members has experience with it. Kindly check the link and see there the video under : How to make panoramas. This site offers the complete processing
of shots to a 'Virtual tour' pano.
It is possible to make my own pano 'Virtual Tour' in Autopano Giga which includes Autopano Tour for this reason.
Anybody knows whether one can post a pano like that one in a gallery i.e. pbase, Fred Miranda or here on our gallery.  Help Please
Let me also know ALL your experience with doing pano.
Thanks Salut
Hans

Hans--

I have been seeing these moving panoramas the last few years I think. I think they are kind of neat, but at least for me if the cursor and then image starts moving too quickly all over the place I think I am on an amusement park ride and get nauseous. Cool yes, giving a neat perspective yes--but would I rather see a gorgeous panorama print than playing with the image on a monitor--yes again.

Most of my panos I have done via Photoshop, I think it was with CS4? that it became so easy to do. Best on a tripod, shoot vertical, I take a partial pic of my hand so I know the next frame is where it starts, and when I am done shooting 10 or however many verticals I shoot a partial hand pic again. Then I go grab an espresso why Photoshop churns away and makes a huge file. BTW, I use Lightroom and I just access Photoshop via Edit in the toolbar, than I can save an image right next to the original in my Lightroom catalog. Hope this helps.

Thanks, David.
For me it could be a new (additional) way of photography. I did pano's in the conventional way quite a bit, both in PS and AutuPano. I think I know how to shoot with and without gear using the nodal point etc.
Saw some gorgeous 'moving panos' with tons of gigabytes to zoom in without losing quality.   Thumbs Up Wink

I have seen some of those huge gigabyte panos where one could zoom in--incredible detail, and from so far away. If I recall one could read a clock tower that in the "big" picture could not even be seen.

Just in case you feel like dropping some $ on some pano gear.    Laugh   http://reallyrightstuff.com/Items.aspx?code=PANO&key=cat

This company makes superb quality stuff, not cheap but the last you will need to buy. No, I do not have any of their pano gear--but saw someone recently who did and it was gorgeous design and worked flawlessly.

No, never have had RRS or others ship to Thailand. I have just gotten stuff when I was back for a visit in USA or had someone bring it over who was coming to Thailand. Shipping/insurance would be quite pricy, then there could well be duty to pay, ...
