There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

No problem Khun Thida. It is just nice that you and your son came to the outing.

I'm curious, based on our theme for today (shooting for NG), would artsy stuff be out of scope for lack of a better term? (it's all fun, so I'm only thinking about the hypothetical context of the theme)
I was thinking of doing something like this but I would think manipulations lose the value of stock photos.

Not to sound judgmental Gregg, but that masking technique of selective toning has become a bit cliched. To answer your question though, NG would say that none of the photos should be manipulated as they are supposed to be of a documentary and reportage style. Having said that, I know for a fact though that many NG pictures have been staged, so that is also a form of manipulation in itself. I think for this kind of work though the best thing is to use lens optics and seductive lighting to give your pictures the most drama you can and avoid obvious post processing tricks. I hope that helps.

By the way, since the gallery from today's outing is growing so quickly, I will add a site banner tomorrow so it is a single click to get to the outing gallery from any Forum page.

I really love the pics you have at the end. I must have totally missed them when walking around,  Not Worthy

thanks for the feedback Marc. Now that I think about it, it is too cheesy. Cheesy (kind of like the heart bokehs)

Your welcome Gregg. I think part of the problem is that we have seen that stylized technique over used on monk and Buddha shots in Thailand in recent years once everyone discovered the masking tool in Photoshop and learned how to work in multiple layers.

I was about to get the Plumeria when he came.  So I got him instead of the flower.  After the shot, I forgot the flower over my head.. ha ha

There's a video floating around here with everyone introducing themselves. I think there were a few more that came and were not in the video,

Yes, there was a nice and short video made by Khun Thida where everyone introduced themselves at the beginning of the outing, but I think eventually we posted it on a private link somewhere just for the for members who attended the outing in order to respect people's privacy.
