The Horrific & Tragic Murder Of Dolphins In The Faroe Islands Of Denmark

I normally don't post anything of a CENSORED WORD nature or related to the violations of animal rights, but when I saw this email being circulated on the internet I could not just stand aside. The pictures speak for themselves and please be warned that they are very graphic and disturbing in nature. The text below was contained in the email distribution I received which accompanied the photos:
"Please keep these pictures going around the world. Denmark is a big shame. The sea is stained in red and a meanwhile it’s not because of the climate effects of nature. It's because of the cruelty that human beings (civilized humans) are killing hundreds of the famous and intelligent Calderon dolphins. This happens every year in the Faroe Islands in Denmark. In this slaughter, the main participants are young teens. WHY? A celebration to show that they are adults and mature! In this big celebration no one is missing out on the fun. Everyone is participating in one way or another killing or looking at the cruelty “supporting like a spectator”. It is also necessary to mention that these Calderon dolphins are like all the other species of dolphins in the world, which are near extinction and they get close to the men in the sea to play and interact in a way of PURE friendship. Then they don’t die instantly. They are cut 1, 2 or 3 times with thick hooks and then the dolphins produce a grim cry like that of a new born child. But they suffer and there’s no compassion while this magnificent creature slowly dies in its own pool of red blood. Its enough! We will send this mail until this email arrives at any association that is willing to defend these animals and we won’t only read. That would make us accomplices too."

Marc--saw this about a year ago, and seeing it again makes me just as sad as upon first viewing. Just an outright shame. Denmark would have a lot more respect and $ if instead of needless killing they milked the ecotourism model, as people would come to see these animals.

Good points David. I fully agree. Imagine how many people would love to go to the Faroe islands and spend lots of money there to swim with the dolphins? There is obviously something wrong with these people though if they bring their teenage children to celebrate in a killing ritual of beautiful, innocent, intelligent animals. In my opinion it is barbaric and bordering on cultism. I also read how the Danish government tries to deny responsibility for the slaughtering by saying that the island is not officially part of Denmark and only a territory.
Also, there was a recent BBC documentary I saw which was also hard to stomach about the killing of dolphins by the Japanese in Japan called "The Cove". If you haven't already watched that film, then it will leave you equally unsettled.

Yes, The Cove, a truly tragic documentary as well. It says something about how the human race is digressing back to barbarianism when in many ways it appears we are leaping forward on the surface.

One of our neighbors was beating his child with a stick loud enough that it almost sounded like a 22 cal shot from 2 houses away. You don't have to go so far to find senseless cruelty.
