There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

What a place Thailand is! Had an amazing sunset the other day but no camera on me. Currently staying on southern end of koh lanta (phranang lanta) but will be in phuket (north near airport) soon.

Any recommendations for great places for seascape shots, for either sunset or sunrise. Being the rainy season the water is not best, but ya gotta work with what there is.

Ps. Great forum, and not just for coming to Thailand.

Welcome to the Forum. Not much at the north end, but at the south end of Phuket is the Cape Promthep, which is a nice sunset shot, but it takes a bit of a drive to get there. Drop that name into Google Images and you can see quite a few examples of what it looks like.

south end of Phuket is the Cape Promthep

I did not make it to the southern end, Patong Beach and Phuket town was chaos enough so I stayed further on north where it was a bit quieter! I was also not game to get on a scooter in Phuket! Nonetheless I can definitely see the potential for absolutely stunning sunsets, every day you would see somethign half decent and on teh days when a don't have camera they are spectacular!

Anyway, when I do come back to Thailand I will definitely head south again or try north of Phuket, I saw all I wanted of phuket in the couple of days I stayed there!

A few holiday snaps from the last week or so

This was the best bar I went to, the little hut perched on a cliff and views to die for - the sunset was ordinary but the local company and the cold beer made up for it!

The second best bar I went to, on the beach, great music, great locals and check out the geckos...

A bit lame, but everyones got have a shot from the James Bond Island - we had the best thai tour guide ever!

I walk around to the local national park to try and capture one of them fore-mentioned stunning sunset, of course it was not spectaular because I had my camera and tripod with me... Roll Eyes

This shot summarises Phuket for me, more closely, Patong Beach! the classic euro tourist.
