Author Topic: will Nikon cameras come out in Thailand at the same time as in the west? (d7000)  (Read 1108 times)

so the nikon d7000 will come out in the US this october (not sure exactly when).  will the camera be released in Thailand at the same time?

That is a good question. Often they do, or at least within a month or so. You could try contacting Niks Thailand, the Nikon distributor in Thailand, and see what they say if you want a real answer.

It's ironic because the Nikon factory that produces entry-level (D3000, D3100, D60, D40), midrange (D5000, D90, D300, D300s, D700) cameras are produced right here in Thailand.

yeah i know.  i read somewhere about how they send them back to japan and have to re-import it (or something like that, not exactly that)

Isn't it ..ironic..Considering the above..you can now buy a d7000 body cheaper thru ebay out of Australia cheaper than here or Japan?

i think the Nikon plant operates under a special tax agreement. you get very favorable conditions from the government but you are not allowed to sell in Thailand directly... not the only plant that works that way, some motorcycle plants do the same.

A little OT but about 4 months ago I was told that Nikon are directly entering the market in Thailand and will open an official service centre in Bangkok. I have heard nothing more about it though. Anybody heard anything?
