There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Interesting color period images of everyday life in America:

These images, by photographers of the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information, are some of the only color photographs taken of the effects of the Depression on America’s rural and small town populations. The photographs are the property of the Library of Congress and were included in a 2006 exhibit Bound for Glory: America in Color.

Thanks Marc; I spent a few years in Caribou, Maine in the 1960's and things looked pretty much the same then as when these images were taken.
I enjoyed seeing them.

Marc--these pics have been making the rounds of assorted sites recently and are good and a shocker as we are so used to seeing these FSA photos in b/w. Liked one comment I read where someone said they got the Wizard of Oz treatment.

Wizard Of Oz. Yes, I can see that. Good comparison.

Great quality reproductions. Love Nr. 9 from the cotton fields.

Shorpy has a lot of archival photos from the Civil War up through the 50's.

EDIT: I didn't see the other post where Marc linked to Shorpy until after posting this.  Head Scratch
