I understand. However in the case of Nikon lenses, from what I have read, some of the newer stuff doesn't optically compete with some of the older stuff. This n90s i'm getting will be the most technically advanced camera i've ever owned. Comparing it with a lens for $54 to a $600 used d200 body plus  cost of a lens is pointless if you don't have the money to shop with. even at todays prices, i can buy years worth of film and processing for the difference. actually, the plan is to tank develop at home and scan with a canon 9000f. still way cheaper than even a used digital body. driving an old toyota seems better than walking while dreaming of a benz...

DSLR have about as much shutter lag as your N90/F90, so nothing you feel. i have the canon 9000f as well and tried scanning with it. BW seems to be quite ok but i struggle very much with colour.... looking forward to hear how that goes on your side.
tank processing of BW film is indeed easy, however not sure how easy it is to get BW film in thailand, here in Singapore only a few shops are still stocking it and for a medium format roll it is 3-5$ or 75-125bht. so have fun with your F90, collect some money and then get a 2nd had D300 (by that time the D400 will be out and D300 will be a bargain). btw have you ever checked out www.keh.com great site to buy second hand equipment

Yes, in Bangkok film also has become more difficult to find and more expensive as a result of the decrease in production volumes which used to offset the fixed costs of production.

B&W film is even harder to find, and probably the only chance of getting it now is in the specialty camera shops.

In fact, Kodak no longer makes Kodachrome film or B&W paper anymore.

Yes Marc, I know the clock is ticking. I can get fuji in kalasin, not sure about the price. b&h has lots of ilford b&w stuff. i used ilford years ago and loved it. not planiing any b&w right now. fuji film at b&h runs 5-6 usd ea. wonder if it would be practical to have it sent here? from the very limited research i've done, color precess chemistry seems to be available , but in fair quantities.

You can still buy color film in Bangkok. I wouldn't get it from B&H. Too expensive I think.

Actually, I was in B&H last July and I was surprised how small the film and department has shrunk down too. 2-3 years ago it still filled a very large area.
