There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

So, I am browsing in Asia Books the other day and see a new book entitled "We Love Bangkok" published by OOM Lifestyle Books. I flick through a few pages and think it looks kinda interesting, so I purchase a copy.

Later that afternoon I am lazing on the bed and reading the book. Imaging my surprise - there on Page 12, one of my own photographs! The publishers even had the audacity to crop my name and copyright notice from the bottom of the image, and claim that all photographic content in the book is copyright of OOM Lifestyle Books! The book photographer is listed as Pichan Sujaritsatit.

I have emailed the publishers and distributors but so far with no response  >Sad

The original and scan of the book are here http://www.flickr.com/photos/iamguava/4787590460/

I am sorry to hear that. How did they obtain a copy of your photo? Also, are you absolutely sure it is your photo and not a similar image shot by another photographer?

Absolutely sure, the processing is unique and the images 100% identical.  Check out the links.  The photo was ripped from Flickr - the small file size was sufficient to print at the size they required for the book.

Understood. It is unfortunate, but sometimes this kind of thing happens. It has happened to me too in the past. I would make a stronger effort to contact them. Either by telephone or I would show up at their office. I would also be prepared to tell them how much you want them to pay you for use of your picture. My guess is they will feel quite embarrassed about what they did and agree to pay you something. The use of the picture is not very big on the page it appears. Also, if they haven't printed very many copies of the book, there is probably not very much money at stake. I think from your side it is more the principle and why I would make a greater effort to contact them so that you can settle the issue and move on from it.
