Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone would share their thoughts on great locations in Phuket? Not really interested in beaches, sunsets, or viewpoints, more interested in areas off the beaten track, lesser known temples, village markets or anywhere were the local culture can be captured.

Thanks in advance for any recommends.

Lesley,

You can find what you're looking for if you head to the northeast coast of the island. Areas around Bang Rong, Ao Por, Kung Bay and Baan Para have many local markets and traditional fishing villages. Not many temples as this area is mostly Muslim but definitely off the beaten path.

Great shot of Doi Suthep, but not quite Phuket...

No problem. I do like the photo though. It would be nice to have you post it in the Gallery section instead. For sure people will see it that way more than by placing it within a message post as you did and you might even get some nice comments from people on it. By the way, welcome to the Forum :)
