Thanks Ray , are you a big Lightroom fan?

For me probably the best piece of software released almost ever... love it.

Love it, BUT prefer Capture One as my RAW developer.

I used to use Cap One a while back, and If you got one of there Phase One backs then obviously thats the way to go. But for DSLR's, most the RAW processing programs are pretty good these days I think. I am really sold on LightRooms GUI and think the file quality is on a par for most things again other programs.
Just a matter of what you used too and how you like your workflow to flow I guess.

Frankly I've tried all the RAW processors (at great cost) and quite simply C1 stands out a country mile imho.

Images are crisp, superb colour and saturation and the available correction tools are so good. Latest version 5 also (at last) excepts Jpeg and Tiff files.

Now that Phase One have acquired Expression Media maybe we'll have a complete DAM system to boot.

Having said that I love the tools in Lightroom which are different again to C1.

Slowly but surely Photoshop is disappearing from my workflow, which is a blessing what with it's resource devouring attributes!

Interesting Ray, I didn't know they had acquired Expressions Media (iView), I am big fan of that too. So perhaps as you say they might come up with something more complete, that would be good.
To my eye Images are crisp have superb color, saturation and the available correction tools are so good in LightRoom too. Whether one is better than the other is more than likely something for the tech heads at Imacon and Adobe to worry about. There is more than enough quality and control for my creative needs in Lightroom and I will continue to use and explore Photoshop as it develops and provides a wide array of tools to use and create with.

Anyway each to one's own.

I believe there is no best way to take or make an Image either, just the way you or I or others like.

Ray and Adam--Capture One and Lightroom are both good, though I have a lot more experience with Lightroom. Maybe 5 1/2 years ago bought and used Capture One LE, which was the cheap version w/o all the capabilities. I bought Aperture as soon as it was released and did not like it as computer was not fast enough to run it properly, and maybe a month or two later a beta version of Lightroom was released and that is what I have used ever since. Lightroom just works for me in so many ways--database, processing, converting into different formats for archiving/emailing/web, slide shows, ... The updated processing algorhythm in version 3 seems to really be good.

I must be missing something with the flickr up load directly feature. I have authorized my flickr account to accept from LR3 but when I put the images into the 'photo-stream and click 'publish'; nothing is uploaded. I have done a Google search in connection with this and still do not have an answer. I tried LR3 help and their instructions seem to mimic what I am trying. No biggie though as it is a new release and may well need a fix to be released soon.
