                     Ray, thanks for the info on the Contax and the links supplied,I will look into it more for future purchase, the Zeiss lenses,having owned four myself are simply superb,and that attracts me to the Contax as well, so I will soon be looking to replace what I have sold by the G2,might have a problem finding an excellent one to buy secondhand, but I do have time on my side, I was at first a little skeptical,after reading some feedback regarding the G1, and with your input will now solely search for the G2. It will be a nice change to have to think a little more before firing the shutter, having never used a rangefinder camera before, it will also be a challenge too,but sure one I will enjoy. Once again thank you for the info,appreciated very much.

                      Mark, By your description of the Nin I met,I think this is the same man, really polite and courteous,it was a pleasure to meet him,he purchased 2 Zeiss lenses, the 18mm and the 85mm,wanted the third one, the 28mm, but the first two had eaten his salary. He was as you described, and yes very happy with his purchase, I think he now works for one of the newspapers in Bangkok,where I met him,we have become friends, and next time I speak to him I shall send him your regards if you so wish.

                      Other purchasers of the equipment I had, where, by word of mouth, given this website name,I am sure they will take a look and become members, and enjoy too.Thanks again for your past help,really appreciated.

 P.S. You dont have a Contax G2 you want to sell in the near future do you ?  Just thought worth a try !!

Hi - I think it might be a different Nin. My friend Nin lives in the USA right now, but is here for a couple for weeks on a family visit. He doesn't work for a Thai newspaper, but anyway it sounds like there are more than one Nins out there

Just missed a beauty in  E Bay UK with four lenses,not a bargain price,but well looked after,never mind will give me more time to save for the Fuji film I am sure to waste in the first few days, hope the developer has a sense of humour!!

   I added a discussion point about 2 weeks ago about selling some of my gear (Ref NikonD300) and would like to say a big thank you for the response and help I got from members here. I will let you into the experience,I was able to use Photonet.com (Thailand),Craigslist,and Photohobby.net. Craigslist was by far the easiest and more ad response, Photonet,came second and Thaivisa .com coming equal second. It was quite an exasperating ordeal, but we finally got there. However, one website,Photohobby.net proved to be the opposite, mistrust over how I had advertised,had them thinking I was a spammer,and they duly ripped out my ad. To see this episode enviel,you may go onto my blog there under tingtong10, I look back on it now as amusing,but at the time it was nearly bitter warfare. I had no problem whatsoever in my dealings with the previous three websites, I duly loaded what I had to sell and that was it,so why did I get this problem,it was done exactly the same way,for the life of me,I shall never know. Anyway,to cut a long story short,I have now sold most of what I wanted to sell,and met some very nice people on the way,Nin,a proffesional photographer from Bangkok,and one ferang called Mike. I posted 1 item via EMS to Phuket,and we have now become friends too,so a rewarding experience that way. A great service by EMS and good price too. There is one individual to be aware if you are selling,under the name of Golf. Buyer and resaler. Cannot say you have not been warned. If anybody out there has owned or used a Contax G1 OR G2 before,and could find the time to give me some advice on what their experieces where with this camera, I am quite interested in buying one in the near future, so this would come in as quite invaluable.

That's an interesting experience. I am actually looking at selling my camera and lenses and renting them instead in the future.

OP, Do you mean photo.net thailand section or photonet.com ( which isnt functioning ?). I am looking to sell my beloved 35mm 1.4 canon but fotofile are stiffing me on the price - the buggers Ebay is the obvious option but it means sending the lens abroad. Any of you guys know how the safest way to send expensive camera gear to the UK or abroad?. Thanks in advance for any info.

In a bit of catch 22 at the moment.  Do you know if the insurance totals are actually listed on the package itself ? If I insure it and the customs guys catch it then that will be painful !

Any other ideas on where to sell in Bangkok?

Your welcome. I am sorry, but I don't know what information they list on the packages  . You would have to check with the post office. You may want to take a look at this other thread though.There are some more ideas covered here by the OP of this thread:

This is an old thread now, but I just wanted to add that with eBay now charging up to 15% on most auctions, I would rather not list anything for sale on eBay anymore (even though I did in the past) and instead try and sell second hand camera equipment in Thailand via local methods now.

There are also a couple of very good Thai language photography web sites and forums with marketplace sections for selling stuff second hand and they offer free listings as well. I assume you could place your ad in English on these sites and hope for the best, but probably best to have the ad translated into Thai too in order to reach a wider Thai local market on these sites.
