MC: @Ray Evans
My eyes bleed, reading what you wrote  :'(
JEB !! JEB !! 55555555

The two Schneider lenses and the Kern Switar are c-mount and adapters are readily available for M4/3.
The 25mm does vignette at 4:3 format but is fine at 3:2. The others do not vignette. All three cover full frame.

I got lucky with both Schneiders and picked them up for a few hundred dollars each on eBay BEFORE folks realized they adapted to M4/3. Tested them against the Nokton 0.95 wide open and they destroy this lens. And so tiny. Wouldn't like to be buying them now tho at $1500/2000 each!
MC: I tried the Nokton 0.95, the first day it arrived, and was shocked to see purple-fringing. I asked the shop owner about this, to which he replied, "Oh, that's normal for such a fast lens. You can stop it down to f2.8 and it disappears..."
He was correct, but then, what's the point of stopping it down, if it's an f0.95 ? Isn't that the reason people "sacrificed" auto-focus for the f-stop to begin with ?

The Schneider 18-90 was dirt cheap and frankly is a crap lens. Nice paperweight tho.

Frankly though the ones to get are the Contax G lenses. So sharp your eyes bleed. Contrast and Bokeh are unsurpassed. You can realistically only use the 35, 45 and 90 as the others need modifications to fit which is beyond me.
MC: Just curious to know what modifications? Lens adaptors? "Forcing/jamming" the aperture pins? Aperture lock?

MC: @Khun Hans
Khop Khun Khap for your response.

Michael, see this shop here in BKK:
http://www.avcamera.com/
I was there several times and it is really worth going there. Lot's to see and test. Friendly people.
They got almost everything of M4/3 and second hand lenses.
MC: I fully agree about this place. I've been there before, and bought my 45-150mm Fourthird w/ m4/3 adaptor just before my trip to Burma last year. It was REALLY CHEAP !!! I think it cost me a mere 8,500 Baht for BOTH the lens AND the adaptor. Yes, I shot Burma with it.... I think I also grabbed an extra Panasonic Battery from them as well, coz they were the only people who had them in stock.

Scroll down on 'Home' page for 2nd hand.
MC: Thanks for the heads-up. Not quite what I'm looking for though...

I have the PEN EP1 with Canon FD lenses 24/50 and 85mm
MC: I see. A Manual-Lens Guy too huh? SWEET !!

Oh, and thanks for this heads-up as well:

(A note: NO, I'm NOT trying to sell you anything, NOR am I an insurance agent either. OK, now that's out of the way, I can continue with peace-of-mind...)

Have you guys noticed that BOTH the EP1 AND the EPL1 NEW, are priced the same at 15,990Baht WITH the 14-45mm kit lens? I was kinda surprised when I saw it today at Camera World at the Mall Bangkapi.

Anyway, I was wondering if either of you know where to buy a Nikon-mount 1.4x Teleconverter (Manual will suffice), because I'm using the 180mm f2.8, and really love that lens. However, adding the 2x teleconverter may be a little too much. Also, am hoping that the place offers trade-ins.

I have for trade/sale, the
1) 17mm f2.8 Olympus
2) 50mm f1.8 Nikon (Manual)
3) 14-45mm Olympus
4) 14-45mm Panasonic
5) 135mm f3.5 Super Takumar

(If you see my current carrying-kit listed above, then you'd understand why I'm letting these go)

So, if either of you could help point me in the correct direction, I'd be most delighted and gratuitous.

Also, I'm looking at either the 500mm f6.3 Kenko, or the Nikon 500mm f8. (It is substantially more expensive at the ground floor of  MBK for the Nikon though..  Sad  I saw it going for something like Sg$500 (circa 12,500Baht) as compared to the 18,000Baht price Tag they put on it at MBK.

BTW, what do you both shoot?
I managed to shoot the Bangkok floods, and you can view them at this (public) link:

With regards to the Contax 21mm and 28mm there's a protruding plastic sleeve used to protect the rear element that fouls the mirror and needs to be filed down for clearance. Of course, if you slip the damaged is irreparable! Plus of course the filing may also find their way into the lens!

Best left alone methinks!

Any possibility of removing it rather than by cutting/sawing?

I'm referring to unscrewing the lens from the rear, and removing the entire plastic piece without needing to cut it.
it also means that you can replace them later if you wish...

Just my thoughts... that's all...

Seemingly not. All the web talk is of filing down and I've never seen any reference to removal.

Then your fears might be correct about the dust getting into the cracks....
Oh well.....
