There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

I know that Luang Prabang is not in Thailand.  However,
Thai is spoken - practically by everyone.  I would recommend
Luang Prabang as being being a very beautiful old city for
historic and artistic type photogaphy.

The Mekhong - what a river!
I was in LP a couple of months ago and i couldnt agree with you more - its an amzing place for photography and for getting away from the traffic of Bangkok. In fact its probably one of my favourite destinations in the area. i have some pics in my gallery aswell - www.pbase.com/dravlinbood
Thansk for sharing the lovely pics

Where is Luang Prabang and how do you get there from Bangkok.
Is there anything else on the web that has information on this area.

Yes, I, too, would be interested about its whereabouts.  Have heard so much about it.  Anna

Greetings. It's great to see this photo of the Mekhong. A couple of years ago I started a trip in Laos in Luang Prabang. Thai Airways was just about to start flights from Chiang Mai, so we wanted to arrive before a possible flood of visitors. It was a short, two-week trip to Laos and LP was so captivating that we stayed a week; just couldn't get moving, as planned. You can see a few photos from this trip (and my first two trips to Thailand) on my Smugmug photo gallery site: www.eagger.smugmug.com (see the Laos gallery). Most are in or around LP.

All of these shots were taken with a film point and shoot with no post production, so please excuse the quality of some of them (especially the Thailand 1 gallery, which were scanned on CD and the digital versions are quite poor quality). I am now shooting digitally and it's a whole new world. Ah, the digital SLR learning curve...

Glad to be part of this forum. Thanks, Marc, for providing this.

Hi, Ellen, I just viewed your website.  I like your style.  My two favorite ones are "Color and Texture" and "In My Neghborhood."  I also like the dancing feet.  Welcome to the digital world.  I got my 20D Canon just couple weeks ago and am still learning the different buttons... and trying to get use to its weight plus the lens, too.  My family named it Twenty Pounder.  Do you have more photos in another website?  I'd love to see more of your work.  Anna

Thanks, Anna! My style is evolving (whose isn't?) so it's great to get feedback. That's the only photo gallery I have at the moment. It's incredibly time consuming to add to it, although I am considering using a photoblog at some point because it's more immediate (your latest shots show up first). I'm now using a Canon Rebel XT, which I bought partly because of its smaller size. Happy heavy camera carrying!

Hi, Ellen, just got back from Hanoi late last night.  Catching up with the interesting postings in this forum.  You mentioned about evolving style.  I cannot pin down what mine is yet.  I know for one I like sillouhettes and street activties.  Meantime, I am making all these shots in my travels and learning more about my camera and photography along the way.  Anna
