There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Hi All--Have a friend that wants to know is anyone aware of any data recovery service here in Bangkok to recover stuff off of his external HD. He also would like to know a source for getting another Waco pen, or somewhere with cheap tablets. Told him what came to mind was perhaps Foto File, though there are surely other places as well.
Thanks, David

There was, and probably still is, a place on the top floor of Panthip at the back by the car park which does data recovery. A small shop with equipment and parts around. Ask around on the top floor and I am sure someone there can help direct you to the shop.

I just had data recovery done on a Lacie by Maxell Thailand. They sent a messenger to collect it and charged me 10,000 Baht for recovery and 2000 baht for repair (phew!). The hard disk broke again two weeks later. Luckily I had learnt my lesson and was more careful about backing up the backup.

I used them as they are the official agent for Lacie.

Paul--Yikes!, no bargain that's for sure--hopefully Pantip might be cheaper. I myself have multiple HD backups, and one is off site. BTW, went to Nikon Day at Siam Paragon today where there is a lot of gear to handle and test out--no bargains, I know the new 16-35mm with VR is $300 cheaper in the US than it was priced today.

I think I once paid 500 or 1,000 Baht at Panthip. Not much more I don't think. Even though that was a number of years ago I can't imagine the price has gone up that much.

David,

Sorry I am a little late replying to your post, but if you or your friend still need help with data recovery, I can help. Photography is my passion and main interest, but I do data recovery as a career to pay my bills.  Someday I hope Photography will do all of that Wink
