There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Marc--Finally made it over to see the photos earlier, some great images. I had a photographer friend comment that you must have been real close to the subject matter using a fisheye lens. I replied you never would have gotten away with it in NY--Get the **** out of my face  *******!  Grin Roll Eyes

Thanks David for taking the time to visit the exhibition and comment. You are right about having gotten close to many of the subjects you see in the shots. I enjoy the interaction and closeness to people though most of the time when I am shooting. I had never thought how I would shoot the same subject in NYC. I actually think though that my approach would not be much different, although the bigger challenge would be finding that kind of subject matter on the streets.

I had never thought how I would shoot the same subject in NYC. I actually think though that my approach would not be much different--Westerners (obviously not everywhere)  do not seem to often have the same enthusiasm as people here in Asia do for being photographed. In Paris two years ago with my Thai g/f she had trouble understanding why many people did not want to be photographed, and these were often people working outside with the public. I told her just wait till you get to NYC  Smiley, there I will sometimes get verbal abuse as well--actually it is usually not so much verbal as in the look that says Back off buddy!. Also as far as photographing kids playing on the street or wherever in the west, that is often frowned on and abuse can well be coming one's way. Sadly many think the one with the camera is some type of pedophile. That said, I still always try to photograph everywhere as if one does not no chance of ending up with a good photograph.
