I had never thought how I would shoot the same subject in NYC. I actually think though that my approach would not be much different--Westerners (obviously not everywhere) do not seem to often have the same enthusiasm as people here in Asia do for being photographed. In Paris two years ago with my Thai g/f she had trouble understanding why many people did not want to be photographed, and these were often people working outside with the public. I told her just wait till you get to NYC

, there I will sometimes get verbal abuse as well--actually it is usually not so much verbal as in the look that says Back off buddy!. Also as far as photographing kids playing on the street or wherever in the west, that is often frowned on and abuse can well be coming one's way. Sadly many think the one with the camera is some type of pedophile. That said, I still always try to photograph everywhere as if one does not no chance of ending up with a good photograph.
