There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Hello,

I plan for Feb 2010 to travel around Thailand. I would like to have some advices for preparing my photography bag. I would like to have suggestion of which kind of lense should I take, Do I need a tripod ? other devices will be usefull ?

I plan travel with Rack bag so I need to travel lightly.

I already have : EOS 5D mark II, Canon 50 1,8, CANON 70-200 L ( too heavy for the trip ), 2 batteries, Several CF...

So which lense should I take with me, what is the best of transporting it ....

Thank in advance

Regads

Hello Oliver,

I would recommend you bring a USB Flash Drive Card Reader that will allow you to transfer your images from the Compact Flash Cards to a portable HD; also a USB.
You certainly do not want to run around looking for more Compact flash cards while on your vacation. Easy access from hotels and internet cafes.
Just my thoughts,

Enjoy your trip.

old post, but still not in February....

Olivier, get a 35mm lens. IMO much better range than 50mm, and 70-200 is maybe heavy, but handy if you run into special events  (festival, parades, stage shows, etc...) where it's just  not feasible to get that close, or constantly.

You only have 2 types of lens? I think you can leave your 70-200mm, coz its heavy... I do think you should get a 16-35mm & 24-105mm, best for travel, since you're using 5D MKII, no need worry much about shooting at low light condition
